In our martial arts training we spend a lot of time developing our Stances–like the Horse Stance, for example. However, the greatest Horse Stance in the world has little to no value if we are standing on ice or in deep water. What is UNDER our Stance, is the SUB-Stance and it has a massive effect on our Stance.
Each of us has various “Stances” that make up the decisions we make and how we choose to live out our lives, day by day. We have hopes, fears and dreams. Ultimately, those Stances obtain their value and success from what lies underneath them – their foundation. For many of us, that foundation is Faith in Jesus Christ and we build our lives on that. Perhaps we need to spend less time on our Stances and more time ensuring that the “house” of our life that we are building is built on something (Someone) solid!
